The Audition Process
The Vista Hills Chorus loves our prospective members, and we want to ensure you have a smooth, easy ride into membership! We will provide information to you as you go - along with a few pokes! - but our audition process is as simple as 1-2-3-4:
- Voice Placement: On your first night with the chorus, you will be voice placed by one of our musical leaders (more about this process on the "On Your First Visit" page). At the end of your voice placement, we will provide you with a copy of our audition song for the part you've been assigned. This copy and the appropriate recordings will be yours to take home and learn and you will hear the song sung at the end of every rehearsal.
- Audition Week: After several visits, we will discuss the timing of your audition. We generally ask a week or so in advance, so you'll have plenty of heads up!
- Auditioning: On the night of your audition, you and the audition quartet will go into a private room to sing through the audition song. You will have the opportunity to sing through it a couple of times, and to consult with another member on your part if you have any hiccups.
- Review: Once you're satisfied with your audition, you will return to the risers for the rest of the evening. The Music Team will make and relay their decision to you after consulting briefly with the Management Team.
